The Flickering Darkness (Revisited)

Producer

Produced Juan delGado’s Unlimited Commission, and managed the exhibition tour.

The Flickering Darkness was shot at the Corabastos market in the city of Bogotá, Colombia. The camera follows food from the gut of the city, as it is processed by night workers at the market to its consumption in community dining and market restaurants.

Presented as three interconnected films with surround sound to create an immersive environment, the work shows the city as a shifting array of colour, texture, speed, silence and sound. It captures the sense of chaos and order while inviting wider reflections on society’s strata.

It was exhibited at the Unlimited Festival, Southbank Centre, London; The Gallery at Tyneside Cinema, Newcastle; Phoenix, Leicester; and Fundacion Laxeiro Spain.

Supported by Unlimited; celebrating the work of disabled artists, using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
