Underwire Festival 2015

Co-Producer - running the annual film festival & associated year round events

Underwire is the UK’s only film festival celebrating female filmmaking talent across the crafts. Founded in 2010 with the aim to change the face of the industry from the inside out, the festival recognises talent across Directing, Producing, Screenwriting, Editing, Cinematography, Acting, Sound Design, Composing, Animation, Production Design, and any short film that has a woman in one of those roles is eligible. With a clear objective to improve the statistics in front and behind camera, there are also awards for female crew members Under 25, actors, and for onscreen representation with the XX Award that is open to all films that foreground female characters and stories from filmmakers of any gender.

Our 2015 programme saw the introduction of features by women filmmakers, and an awards night where winners were celebrated publicly. We screened 56 shorts and 3 features with filmmaker Q&As, and ran a day of industry talks. The 2015 festival was co-produced with founder Gabriella Apicella.

I continued to be on the festival Advisory Board, and to assist with the festival pre-selection and programming.
